Here's the latest installment of pics in the
"Ez" rebuilds the wrecked 800" series.......<Grin>
Notice the polished fins on the engine go all the
way down to the crank case now. I flattened the
rounded edge with a grinder and made them
look like the nice shiny ones from Kawasaki. Then
Keith spent the next 100 hours polishing them. He
started with 80 grit sandpaper and moved to 220 grit
then 400 grit then 600 grit and finally Wenol metal
polishing creme. They almost shine like chrome.
We taped up each individual fin with 1/8" fine line tape
before painting the engine. While the paint was still
wet we removed the tape. I think it turned out real
well. Keith will definitely have a ride to be proud of.
Keith and Scooter and Joe have all worked a lot of
hours, disassembling, cleaning, sanding, ect. It's
good to have friends!!!!!
