This morning I finished the JOG check on my friends '99 G/G Nomad. He has
1200 miles on the JOG. Some interesting notes: When I checked my '97 Classic a
few days ago my gear was unscathed. There are 12 tabs, I needed to
"adjust" 5 of the 12 on my Classic. On the Nomad, a large portion of
the side of the gear and 3 of the teeth had noticeable marks of direct contact
with the tabs protruding from the rear of the clutch basket. I had to
"adjust" all 12 of the tabs. Different vendors for the Nads? After I
laid the hammer down I used the Dremel tool to soften all of the points and all
of the edges of the tabs until my straightedge ran smoothly all along the rear.
Since there had been some definite contact, I also made sure the JOG screws were
tight (they were), cleaned up the teeth a bit, run a stone across the gear face,
and put her back together. I recommend checking this item.
