Just wanted to report success on my modification of the Nomad passenger boards.
The problem I was having was that my 5'2" wife was unable to comfortable
reach the rear boards. She had to extended her knees all the time just to
reach.
I researched welding, but got different interpretations on the
"weldability" of the cast aluminum.
So I cut the mount and attached the lower portion to the upper portion by
drilling two holes and securely mating the pieces. I used a little hobby
paint for now.
The result is perfect. The boards are raised 1.75" and are further out 0.375".
They fold unobstructed.
They are well in reach and much more comfortable. The bolted pieces are
strong. I even hoisted my fat ass into the passenger perch a
few times for testing.
