Here's how we proceded:
A friend of mine is a professional bike restyler. He own a bodyshop
that is specialized in custom body works for motorcycles and cars. He
said: "bring me the tank and we'll see what we can do". First, I didn't
had $$$ to strech the tank (even if it could be a really nice custom
touch...) and was sure of something: I no longer wanna see that seam
again! With the factory paint scheme (dk. burgundy / beige) of my 800,
the seam appear twice more 'cause it was in the lighter color (even more
with air box cover shining on...).
He "filled" the lower portion of the tank with body filler (putty) for
major body repairs up to 3" - 4" from this seam. He made it smooth
sanded than he applyied primer/sealer and the tank was ready to paint
(my part of the job, I'm an airbrush artist...)
That make the tank looks 1 gallon bigger!!! (+ / -)
I've joined some pictures to show you different angle to look at BUT,
these pics wasn't shooted for this application, PLEASE APPOLOGIZE ME for
those who would like a closer shot. : P
