About every 12,000 miles I check the clutch spring on my 1998 1500 Vulcan
Classic. The only reason I do this is because of the clutch problems that
several people have had with the clutch springs. I'd rather be safe than
sorry. The clutch spring pictured below was installed in the bike at about
12,000 miles and it now has about 25,000 miles. As you will see, there is
very little wear and I decided not to change the spring this time. The
first time I checked it, at about 12k miles, I had about the same amount of
wear as this one but I went ahead and replaced it that time.
For those with bandwidth concerns, the picture Clutchspring1.jpg is about
160k in size for a lot of detail. The other pictures, Clutchspring2.jpg and
Clutchspring3.jpg are about 65k in size.
