    Here's a picture of my 1500D2, taken in June of 1999 just as the two bikes
    were starting their permanent move to Georgia.
    You can see the polished water pump cover, held by stainless steel
    fasteners. Procedure is the same as with all aluminum polishing, with the
    pump cover off the bike of course.
    This makes for a very "natural" look and saves the expense of buying the
    chromed sheet metal cover.  I had much trouble with those things rusting in
    the past, so I prefer putting a chrome-like polish on the actual part.
    
    In the meantime I have refined the looks of the engine by stripping the
    paint off the cylinder bases (still silver engine paint in this picture)
    and putting a chrome shine on it, too.  My next pics will show this in much
    more detail, and should be ready in about a month.  I am still putting the
    bike back together right now (Jan.2000) because I had the swingarm and
    motor mount chrome plated.
