Here's an example for a cylinder sprayed with high-temp engine paint. The
motorcycle is a 1954 Horex Regina. Note that the cylinder fins don't have
sanded edges because they are cast iron. The head fins do, but I didn't
have good equipment back then in 1974 so the whole job looks a bit
amateurish, but presented no technical difficulties and the engine did NOT
overheat.
I see no problem with doing this on the 1500A. The paint shouldn't alter
engine temperatures unless you really *glop* it on there. It could be
argued that any insulating effect from the paint (which should be minor) is
offset by the greater radiative heat loss because a black body cools faster
than a light colored one.
