After suffering through a very wet Saturday in Northern Illinois, Sunday greeted us with some mild overcast. However, the sun quickly burned away what clouds there were and the day turned out to be perfect for riding.

Fred "Z-Man" Zimbric set up a well-planned ride through Illinois/Wisconsin which started at the famous Highland House. This unassuming little restaurant is host to hundreds of motorcycles every Sunday, rain or shine.

Walking the parking lot results in a bike show unseen in many places: Harleys of all kinds, Vulcans, BMWs, English bikes, etc. There were three very old Vincents, one with a side car.

BlckChrome got a big kick out of a BMW bike with a very elaborate side car. This car had, if you can believe it, Air Conditioning! The owner set up a large Coleman ice chest with lots of copper tubing; to get cold air, just dump in a couple bags of ice.

After breakfast, we made our way through some very nice back roads of Illinois to KC's cabin, where we stopped for a cold one before continuing on into Wisconsin.

As I said before, the weather cooperated and our ride was terrific. We had upwards of 30 bikes in our "little" group. We were not the only ones on bikes enjoying the day -- we encountered many groups of bikers, both motorized and the pedal type -- on the back roads of Wisconsin.

We stopped for lunch in Elkhorn, Wisconsin, at the Elk Restaurant. Even though it was a small place and we were a large group, the service was good, as well as the food. After eating, we each started out on our own, heading back home. As some of us got back into Illinois, we stopped at "The Limerick," a nice place to sit and have a refreshing drink ... or two.
Thanks again to Z-Man for his well-done effort on putting together a great ride. Let's do it again!
