(Story by Huge, VROC #926; photos by Wolfman, VROC #3)

The day started out way too early for a Sunday morning, but I had to meet the group led by BlckChrome at Woodfield Mall at 7:00. Riding through the morning fog, I made it to the meeting place about 3 minutes before B.C., Bulldog, Rich, and Sarge, with his coffee drinking (spilling) wife Cindy arrived, and we were quickly off Oakbrook for breakfast at Denny's.

As we pulled in to the parking lot, we were met by Greg, Taz and his new Drifter, and Wolfman and his pink horn.

A few minutes after we were seated, Jake showed up, and a while later we were joined by our unofficial hosts, Thumper and his wife Sandy. After thoroughly confusing our waitress (it was her 2nd day on the job), we had a good breakfast and headed off to the mall to join the other 1000, or so, bikes for the ride. Unfortunately, Wolfman had to bow out at this point to go home to complete his recovery from his 2nd surprise birthday party of the night before.

After registering, looking at other bikes, and helping some riders find their lost bikes, it was time for the ride. The parking lot emptied out pretty quickly, and we were off an a 50+ mile ride through the western suburbs, with the police blocking off all the major intersections. Even with the police escort, we still had cagers who just couldn't wait jump in between and cause problems. Thankfully, everyone made it to the finishing point in one piece, where we had lunch and got our t-shirts.

By this time, it was after 1:00, and some of our group needed some libations real bad, so five of us headed off to Burlington to a bar that we'd stopped at in May on the Little Angels run. Here, we were joined by about 50 bikers on a remembrance ride, and Sally, fresh from her night at the Jimmy Buffet concert.

After a beer, it was time for me to head home to try to play some golf, but by the time I made it home, I had to take a nap instead. I guess taking my windshield off yesterday wasn't the smartest thing to do. 160 miles without it really wiped me out.

Hope I didn't forget anything, anyone, or get any names wrong. That kind of stuff isn't really one of my strong points. If I did, I'm sorry.
